Welcome to White Cloud - "Where the North Begins and Pure Waters Flow".
Traveling north on M-37, you may remember seeing the sign with that slogan. Located in the center of Newaygo County, the gateway to the Manistee National Forest, and the County Seat, this area is one of Michigan’s fastest growing counties in the State. A mere 45 minutes north of Grand Rapids along state highway M-37, many people prefer to make their home here, for a number of good reasons.
Four seasons recreation is available just outside your door. The beautiful White River, one of Michigan's finest trout streams has its beginning just north of the city, meandering west beyond Hesperia towards Lake Michigan. The North Country Hiking Trail traversing north-south, has many access points and trailheads, along with parking and trail information. The Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary is located just north of Diamond Lake. The Karner Blue Butterfly, a federally protected species, makes its home in the Big Prairie area -look for them when the Blue Lupines are blooming. Fremont is the International Headquarters of Gerber Baby Foods and the National Baby Food Festival. Ice Fishing, Cross-Country Skiing and Snowmobiling along groomed trails are popular winter activities. The Croton & Hardy Dam recreation area are home to all sorts of water related fun on the waters of the Muskegon River. Mushroom hunting is also a sport taken very seriously in the area. Lucky hats, camo clothing and detailed maps of where the elusive morsels were found previous years are standard gear.
Consider the many reasons to make your home in Newaygo County, or call our office for more information on any of these fun activities. We'd love to have you visit. Most of our agents are lifelong residents of the area, and can help you with all your real estate needs, or just answering questions about the place we call home. It could be your home too!
